Being a boring Sunday yesterday after gardening and shopping on the morning with custard I decided to go out and whip the sea with my lures again. High water was at 2 pm I got to the north gare break water at 4pm. The fog was as thick as the staff in Macdonalds.
There was a slight northerly wind and plenty movement. I decided to fish the knuckle at the gate. Trying to cast a light lure 20g was a waste of time got no distance at all about 20 yards. So I put a seeker thing on ( I'm shite at remembering the names of lures😲).
After about 10 casts with it and nothing I changed to a weedless lure a bonny green thing, this went out about 40 yards I let it sink to the bottom after counting to ten started my retrieve I must of had 4 or five turns of the reel very slowly then I thought I was plugged on the bottom then the fun began,
The rod started banging like a shithouse door in a force ten gale I had fish on wahoo it was taking line then I realised I had the drag set wrong after a couple of turns to tighten it the fish started to come to me.
I got it to the side and started the hand ball up the side there it was my first ever bass caught on a lure 🎣🐟🏆 I was buzzing doing a little fisherman's dance to celebrate luckily there was no one around or I would of been sectioned 😁.I quickly removed the lure took a few pics then released it to fight another day. I know it's only a schoolie but what a fish one I'll not forget after trying about 20 -25 times different tides different weather it's paid off 1000011596.jpg1000011598.jpgAfter that nothing it started getting a bit chilly so I left at 18.30 to head home. So I'll be back out this weekend to have a go at getting another one hopefully bigger 😀👍.
