I have a Shakespeare agility 2 flattie rod and on the cover it says maximum line 12lb would it be ok to use 20lb braid? Or would the rod snap?
All replies greatly appreciated.

The line strength on your rod is just a guide to get the best balanced gear. There is nothing to stop you using 50lb line on the rod, but you would never be able to pull with 50lb of force with that rod.

20lb braid will be fine, but bear in mind that if ever you get caught up on a cast and need to pull for a break then don't try and do it with the rod, otherwise you could potentially snap the rod.
