Did post a couple of photos in the hasn't it gone quiet thread but thought I'd do a little report too .
Venue is 35 acre, old gravel pit which is also an sssi area.
The sea fishing has been weedy and busy with public putting me off.
So with that in mind and with the lake opening on June 16th as it still has a traditional close season I made the first trip the day after the euro final;( ...
Did a 3 nights having small bbqs quietly with friends who were fishing in other spots around the lake ,, peace and complete solitude as you have to wade out to this swim . No public footpaths either is lovely.
Fishing is from one bank only which often means long range fishing about 120 yards with 22mm boilies to reach the holding grounds.....
although being on an island I had one from 10 yards out to my left .
Hard water bites don't come often (people go a season without a carp sometimes fishing twice a month!!)
But after carping for a long time the challenge of this appeals , much better feeling than reeling in 10 a day at a pond where the fish need the bait to live....
Or as some might view it 'a complete waste of time ' ?
That trip I had 3 carp 1 of about 15lbs 1 of 31lbs and 1 of 33lbs

Went back a week later and the same spot was empty again so went in and couldn't believe my luck had a 31lbs common a 14 and a 25lbs

Summer relaxation and better camping spot than any pitch up campsite in my opinion ...all for 150 quid a year ,fishing included, go as much as you like lol works out cheap by end of year the amount we go...same as paying a few quid a time parking charges at seaside spots ...

Need a decent camera not just phone as saw marsh harriers divebomb chicks in the reeds opposite would of been amazing photo couldn't even see a thing on this camera .
