I feel almost honoured to be the first to post in this part of the forum but here goes.
Most will know me from the old WSF where in the olden days I was Boat Moderator before moving on to be be Dep Admin.
I am still enjoying my boat fishing but with a couple of changes.
I now have a new boat, a QS 675 names Sea Mistress II, based in Brighton Marina just 8 miles along the coast from my old haunt of Newhaven.
I fish anything up to 35 miles offshore for most species and having seen BFT not too far off over the past few years hope to one day be hooking up to them from my home port!
Every September I take SM2 over to Kilmore Quay in Wexford, Ireland for the Rosslare Small Boat Festival, with Mike Jnr and a couple of other crew, more recently Chris Ellis and Steve Tipples. This year thanks to COVID it was cancelled and next year I will be giving it a miss as I will be in Norway with Mike and another old name from WSF, Bigads?
I am sure that we will be back in Ireland in 2022 though to have another go at winning one of the biggest comps in the Uk and Ireland?
anyway, enough from me for now, let’s see who else is into their boat fishing?

It feels good to be back, let’s hope this one stays sensible, although the boat forums were never a problem anyway?
Agree - sadly about 12 months ago someone let an overzealous moderator into the boat forums on the old site who seemed think he had a fix and was looking for a problem to use it on...(n)

I fish anything up to 35 miles offshore for most species and having seen BFT not too far off over the past few years hope to one day

We often see them less than 6 miles out, and they can quite often be a PITA ................

They are not difficult to catch but can be quite tackle shy toward the normal shark gear. Changing from wire to FC 150 -300 hook lengths with smaller hooks (8/0 livebait hooks) will give you more hook ups ..............

20 - 30 is a bit too soft, 30 -50 is OK, but ideally 80lb class gear does the job really well, but it is too heavy for sharks ;)

I dont share any BFT pictures, but they are out there to 600 -700lb ............. but 200 - 350 is the usual stamp of fish .............
