Frozen black lug

OK I'll admit that I started thinking about a George Forman grill for doing the buggers enmasse :geek: but just the thought of the potential smell nearly made me sicko_O I reckon the bait suppliers have thought about commercialising it but 1. Can't take the poisoning odour and 2. Know it will reduce demand through eliminating waste and perishing by freezer burn etc etc

Yep, I did wonder about the smell! I don't use Lug very often, but having worked in electronics for a while, it was the 'soldering iron' bit that got my attention! Thanks anyway.
 
Oh well we can but try eh!

Basically all he does is stick the hot soldering iron in for a few seconds then move to another section of the worm and repeat until they've firmed up

id be there for fkin weeks after a decent sesh on the sand

too much hassle involved
all i do is pump em, give em a quick squeeze n chuck em in the bucket, what comes out, comes out, end of
none of this fully gutting and letting dry bollox
who wants a straggly bit of skin for bait?, sooner half a decent frozen black with some guts n blood left in it
never had any quality issues doing it that way, and never sat there cursing my worm for not catching fish

I've think looking at what people are saying on this forum,I will stick with normal frozen black lug.

That would be my take on it, but we don’t get them here in any numbers to pump, I just buy frozen.

I’ve never come across them, to be fair, but I’ve had salted that I thought I was buying as normal frozen black (nothing in the shop said otherwise) and they were crap.

They are used a lot up this way and over the border in the NW. I was really sceptical, the times I have used them I noticed no difference in catches of tings and small bass but dab were not keen on them although they always like sticky worms best anyway. They are definitely way more user friendly

Salted or blanched? Don’t think I’ve ever actually seen blanched.

The salted I was sold were utter crap, pretty much like dried twigs and didn’t get a bite on them.

Tbh down here black lug isn’t a must have bait. Can be good for codling, tings and dab will take them, otherwise there’s better baits here

Blanched not salted. I've not used the oiled and salted stuff. Blacks have got to be first choice winter bait up here
