A text exchange with a mate meant a short notice bait session in the bay was on. Easy for him as he stays in kirkcudbright. Gear and bait quickly sorted and in the car and I am off.
Wife was at work so a sausage supper was on the cards on the way through town for tea. Got to Kirkcudbright and still a bit peckish a quick nip in to Mrs Chens for chips and curry sauce had me sorted, result.
Got to the mark about 3 hours before high, 8.45pm, and set up. Not a big tide and a very pleasant evening to fish.
Fished one rod with a large squid andvrazorfish wrap on a pulley pennel and the other a two hook flapper with squid, razorfish or rainbow trout, or combos of all three.
Not a snuff of a bite on the flood but the crabs were mighty active from the off.
Eventually got a bit of interest on the ebb with a few bites that came to nothing and then a doggy, blankmavoided. Mate got a doggy too and then on dark a few wee fish started rising in front of us. He quickly put up his spinning rod and got a couple of pollock about 6 inches long then they were gone as quick as they came.
We packed in about 11pm having really enjoyed the evening, it was a cracker to be out, despite only a few bites.
