That brings back memories. My first New boat was an Alaska 500 I named Siesta Splash. I remember driving all the way up to Preston to collect it from Kent and back same day. Got 10 miles from home and realised that the straps had come loose and were dragging behind the trailer, and there was barely anything left of the ratchet mechanism! The last few miles were taken very carefully.
I fitted a 75hp Etec to it and often did 100 miles or more on a trip sometimes going 35-40 miles off in the channel. I had my best Conger ever of 85lb on that boat and was silly enough to get it in to weigh it. What a mistake that was when it hit the hot deck and acted like an epileptic anaconda:oops:.
I finally traded it in back in 2006 when I bought Sea Mistress, my old QS 640 but often miss being able to easily trail it to wherever I wanted.

Hi Steve, it has a 190hp D3 volvo inboard,I suppose there are good and bad reviews on every boat on the market, I've had dory's and a raider18 wheelhouse so the Aquafish was the next progression,I have no complaints about the boat and there are certainly a few of them about these days running with both I/B or O/B.

My boat is Sea Mistress II, based in Brighton. I am 60 years young and she is about the 8th boat I have owned. I started sea fishing 56 years ago at Dungeness with my dad and uncle when it was alive with big cod in the mid 60's. Even I with my Penn Sea Boy reel and 8ft solid glass rod could cast far enough to catch them!
I was a regular boat angler by the time I was 10 and have had too many memorable catches to list, but have had Yellowfin Tuna to 80lb in Mexico, conger to similar weight, Black tip sharks in the caribbean, a Bass off Eastbourne pier in the early 80's that was estimated by dozens of anglers there to be at least 20lb before some f**kwit took the name of a drop net too literally and broke my line trying to land it, and a cracking Cobia last year in Florida.
I would love to catch a BFT, having seen them in Ireland and off Brighton.

This is 'Piranha', a Yamarin 540 with a Mariner 60 EFi on the back. Moored in Stonehouse Pool, Plymouth, seen here on the SPBA club pontoon with the Royal William Yard in the background. Would be a very fast boat with max 115hp engine, but she is fast enough for me, especially as most of my fishing is in the Tamar where the speed limit is 10 knots! Sometimes in foul weather I wish I had a cuddy, but a completely open boat is better for fishing involving casting, which is mostly what I do. I feel completely 'me' aboard my beloved 'Piranha' and fish from her year-round. PH

Hi Richard, we are all good here! Not looked at this forum for a while. Doing our best to dodge the virus and little socialising, thankfully not many cases in our area.

How about you two? Travel to France must be difficult now, have you still got that boat in the Med? Edit... just caught up with this thread and see you have sold it. Best thing I guess will all that is going on!

Now I am getting to grips with the river I do not use the inflatable much. It is still worth having to check out new sections of the river with a sounder. Sometime you can spot access points for bank fishing from the water that you would miss walking the banks, so many trees along the river Lot.

Great to see a fellow Orkney on here. I’ve a 14 foot Coastliner, great for ‘billy no mates’ launch and recovery.

the coastliners are nice boats. Lol caught a big blue shark on one once,un hooked it by the side of the boat.
 
Towed mine to Cornwall and had a great time, I was directed to a berth in amongst the tenders which were larger than the Coastliner... the indignity of it all :LOL:
