A neighbour loaned me his 19 foot lake boat to go fishing with my elderly grandfather.
In 3 hours we boated 5 pike, 1 for me and 4 for him. He lost another two bringing them to the net.
The madman caught them all on a 10-40g jigging rod, 2500 size reel, 30lb braid and the same 50g metal spoon. I tried every lure I had and only caught when he let me try his (my gear that I let him use for the day, actually) set up for one cast.
All the fish were caught in one very small area between an island and where a river flowed into the lake. It was almost like reef fishing, catching fish in quick succession as you drift over them and then them disappearing.
