Funnily enough, I had exactly the same problem with a 5000 just a couple of weeks ago. It worked sometimes and not others, and also seemed to work all the time when wound backwards. Sent it off to Felindre (the Shimano repair specialists) and they said it was the oscillating slider and the worm drive that needed replacing. Came back working perfectly. It seems like the spool on my 6000 isn't oscillating properly and his causing a birds nest..I have just put new line on..it's a nightmare..any ideas please..?
Thanks for the help..I will try it..cheers.Funnily enough, I had exactly the same problem with a 5000 just a couple of weeks ago. Maybe, but if it was a bit sluggish or not a smooth wind then I might agree more, but as it is not actually oscillating I would say it is more likely to be something worn or broken. I did have a quick look inside mine and gave it a clean but couldn’t see anything obviously broken. They are so bloody complicated inside I didn’t mess about too much so just sent it off to Shimano.Just to add..would a clean up and regrease help..?
