Just out of interest,who skins their squid before use ? I tend to alternate between skinned and unskinned.
 
Never have, use whole 90% of the time, sometimes take the spine out if it's in the way ...and trim the tentacles down a bit if going for distance .
I think people skin them when using slivers of it for garfish, mackerel ,bream etc to make it as white and bright mainly..I havnt bothered even when fishing for them though tbh
 
I usually do, I must admit.

Not sure that it really makes a difference but my logic is it might show up just a bit more and prompt a bite.

It’s a habit I’ve got into with calamari but don’t bother so much with dirty squid.

Also, weirdly, because I’ve used more/caught more on calamari, I prefer it to dirty squid.

Which I think is most likely just a psychological thing!
