Fished last night for smoothounds using frozen raw prawn for bait.
Had a good trip ended up with three fish one 5lb , one whiting sized and a larger one which broke through the plastic bag I tried to weigh it in , guessing 8 to 9lb. Lost a big one close in the hook pulled even though I set the drag !
After that the tide started to ebb away and no more bites after that.

well done were they ' normal ' prawns or the big type ones forgot the name been in the sun all day lol ...heard a few people using them for hounds recently might give some a try when havnt got any peeler .

Hi the prawns I used were big raw prawns with the shell on from Iceland.
Fished again the night after same bait and not a sniff !
The head end seems to be best it has orange "stuff" inside it a bit like peeler crab.
I cut them in two and used the head end , tied on with bait elastic on a 4/0 .

Didn't consider prawn as a smoothie bait! Good effort and some nice fish there
Live prawns are my go to bait in the boat, just hook 2 back to back through the tails, no elastic. Drop down and bang!!
