Bit of a late report.
Last Thursday I fished the West bay Dungeness in search of spiky sea rats.
8/0 & 6/0 pennels baited with half mackerel or whole squid were flicked 20 yds into the surf.
As they were large baits I kept rebaiting to every half hour.
To be honest, I was not expecting lots of fish using the big or bust approach, and so it proved.
Total blank!

So thats how it goes, big baits and blanks are exactly what happens...... you keep going you eventually get something special.
An honourable blank, I am on the same journey with the occassional smutty trip just to catch a few fish that bend the rods as a fix, but the process every year is the same.
Hours in, blanks, then the magic happens.
