Promises my son a few days away so we took a couple of rods and headed to the beach last Thursday, first got to aldeburgh so we could have an easy evening fishing from the van and he could have a play at casting. Got there and no one fishing at all so we got setup about 5 pm and fished for a couple of hours, little one was having some fun practicing his casting skills (only his 2nd time sea fishing and he's only 4 so was chuffed to bits that he could cast 15 IDs and get his bait in the water himself), meanwhile my rods didn't have bite for the evening. I wasnt complaining though, as long as little one was happy, so was I.
We tried black lug, squid and some fish baits.
Packed up around 7 and had some food before we headed off for the evening.

Tried dunwich the following morning, with slightly higher hopes too as there were a few fishing by 9 am when we get there.
Setup the same two rods with the same baits again, this time we had a couple of rattles that turned into a 4 inch pouting on the last cast.
Was a beautiful day to be on the beach, little one had fun casting/fishing again for abit before he set to finding mummy a few nice pebbles to take home.
Packed up and had a walk to the next chap, he'd been fishing a few hours and not even had a bite, made me feel better about getting nothing the night before.

Left the beach and went for a ride round dunwich heath for an hour with him before heading off home to formulate a plan for the next time.

Safe to say little one is asking about going again already and desperate to catch his first sea fish on his own as he's already had a couple of roach from some lakes nearer home on his whip.

Good to see a youngster keen to learn how to fish, warms the heart, most youngsters these days prefer thier bloody phones or xbox's.
Great report and beautiful pics too. Nice one. 🎣 🎣

Great report.... you will both remember that day for the rest of your lives.
Love to see a youngen on the shingle.

Thanks for the kind words lads, much appreciated.

Yes, a shame most kids seem to want computers and nothing else, not saying my son doesn't play the Xbox abit but he'd much rather be outside playing that couped up indoors.

Hope to head off over Easter for a day or two with him again, not sure where exactly but we'll figure that out depending on the weather.

Bring him to the big beach in Autumn half term..... 15 yards is plenty to get a whopper.

Great report and photos Craig. Your little lad is doing well to cast his own rod and get a bait in the water at 4 years old! 🎣🎣👍👍
