Would be interesting to hear what others think will be the next shore caught record to be beaten. I think it'll be couchs or gilthead bream, both being migratory fish that are increasing in distribution across the UK with reports in recent years of what would've been record fish in nets inshore. The bigger gilts appear to have a greater tendency to be found within casting distance compared to the bigger Couchs, so I suspect gilts will come first. However, seeing the size of couchs coming off inshore reefs from boats in recent years makes me think it's only a matter of time until one strays within casting distance..

Which record do you think will be beaten next?

Cod.
This winter.
By me.
Venue: Dungeness

Well it definitely won't be broken by me. If I was ever lucky enough to catch a record fish I wouldn't tell a soul! It's hard enough as it is trying to find somewhere decent to fish with a bit of isolation. Last thing I'd want is to tell the mob what I'd caught and where!

So many unbelievers.

You wait.

Come November I'll saddle up my pet unicorn, and head to the promised land and catch a record cod.

Norway doesn't count though...;)
