The mechanics of the rod are fine and with the carbon tip works well in our fast flowing estuary.

What I'm saying is the metal band was wedged inside the butt cap when I pulled it off.
I took it off to wash the inside of the butt clean of any post manufacture carbon dust etc like they say in their rod care info [which is good practice anyway]

I've had the metal ring/band on the butt pull off with the butt cap, Prof Evo.
It was held on with what appeared to be masking tape.
Perhans the highly skilled cnc operator undercut the blank too much then.
