Its a good 45 mins to Tywyn from the static, if I travel that far I would just head up the straits and island where I normally fish, sorry should have been a bit more specific, looking Barmouth to Harlech beaches.

We have bought a Static a few miles North of Barmouth this year, done some local fishing during the warmer months and had plenty of Bass and Flatties but was wondering what to expect through the autumn and winter months? Willing to travel a bit up and down the coast from there, any info appreciated.

I can see that on a lure set up it could be more of an issue, I was thinking just on beach casting set up especially on the heavier gear where i'm using 80lb leader, unlike glue the shrink tube should not effect the line strength as it only covers the knot and is still flexible unlike hard glue...

I get like that sometimes, finding the motivation to get up and out especially in crap weather, but once out the mojo is definitely back!

Heard from the guy, confirmed Thresher, went airborne twice before making off like an unstoppable train, only on ray gear so it didn’t last long ?

Warning, they do get a bit addictive ?

I’ve had big Tope spool me especially with a big tide flow, drag tight and a burnt thumb ? but to say it was a Thresher means they must have seen it, it’s not the first thing that comes to mind!

Just seen on Sea Angler fb page about some guys having a successful trip on the Anglesey catching rays from some well known rock marks where they say they hooked a Thresher! Has anyone heard of one from the shore before?

Thats the problem, work always gets in the way! Reckon my next trip will be in a couple of weeks time, will have a look at the tide sizes and weather closer to the time to see what to target but if all the planets align I will probably hit the west coast rock marks or if i'm feeling energetic...

Yeah was strange up there that weekend, not like Anglesey at all, biggest struggle was getting fresh bait for the Tope rigs, week before the mac were throwing themselves up the beach!
