    Knocking Noise

Thanks for the info, but the marine engineering company at my marina said they would get the cutlass bearing out when it comes out of the water, they said it cost around £30 for them to remove it and push the new one in.

That's too slow, I need at least warp factor 10, beam me up Scotty (y)

    Transducer Location

I have a boat with an inboard shaft drive engine and I currently have a Navman Fish Finder with the transducer mounted to the edge of the transom on the starboard side, I also have a Lowrance Elite 7 and the transducer for this is mounted at the bottom of the engine bay on top of the hull, both...

    Knocking Noise

Nice little video on how to remove the bearing, but where do you get the tool from.

    Knocking Noise

Thanks Trev I think you are right and it is the cutlass bearing which hasn't been replaced since the boat was built back in 2007. The noise disappears as you increase the revs, so I think I can leave it until end of Aug and take it out of the water for a couple of weeks

    Knocking Noise

For a while now I've had a knocking noise coming from between the back of the gearbox and the shaft when the boat is in gear and the shaft is rotating, a friend had a look today and there is some play when you move the shaft just after the gland, which resembles the sound when you put it into...

    Marine Mechanic

Does anyone know a good Marine Mechanic who could come and do some work on my inboard diesel engine in the Portsmouth area.

    Norway Place

Mainly shallow areas close to the coastline when we fish for small Coalie's for bait, the only time I've caught Mackerel was close to the Gap at Marholmen

But were you at Sandland, I've only ever caught about half a dozen in the 8 years I've been going there and it's not through lack of trying

Interesting, I've always used Black Lug, but will certainly try fish strips during the next trip, although Coalfish is easier to catch than Mackerel

Great catch Pete, you certainly got amongst some nice Plaice, what bait were you using. The Plaice fishing in Norway is very underestimated and not that many anglers fish for them, but I'm sure that there are a lot of marks that haven't even been found yet and I'm always looking for new marks...

I think using fish strips for bait will also catch Cod, Coalies and small Butts, but if it can catch bigger Plaice I'm happy to give it a go, but will take 100 Black Lug in case. In 10 years fishing in Norway I've only had 4 Mackerel caught on feathers intended for small Coalie's to used as bait.

Over the last few years I've gotten in to the Plaice fishing and we've had some fair sized fish to around 8lbs, but for next year I've been given a couple of marks that have produced a couple of double figure fish, so I can't wait to try them. I normally use Black Lug as bait for my Plaice...

    Norway Place

Since posting my request for another angler to join us on our trip I've spoken to several interested people, but it was eventually taken by two Norway regulars who live quite close to me, so worked out ok in the end. With the exchange rate being 13.76 at the time, we all paid for the trip in...

    Inflatable Dinghy Repair

I have a very small hole in one of the tubes at the front of my Inflatable Dinghy that I've tried to repair a couple of times, but it is still leaking, so I need to have it repaired professionally, does anyone know anyone that can repair it within a 25 mile radius Portsmouth

    Norway Place

It's not, there are two of us already, but normally go with three, but we will pay for it between us if we don't find anyone else, it's only money

I'm just looking forward to finding someone else to go

I definitely agree that a Norway trip should be on every Sea Anglers Bucket list and with the way Cod fishing in going over here it might the only chance you have of seeing one. We went to Buroysund about 10 years ago and stayed in the big house, Sonja and Bjorn looked after us well as we were...
