Tough one. Depends on time of year. Crab now , lures once the sandeels start shoaling, late summer blood fresh mackerel or big bluey bait. For sheer numbers worm baits although tends to get a lot of nuisance and small fish
I've always collected bait since being a kid, my old man did as well. A big part of fishing I think. We used to use a big old bait pump for them. Easy pickings
One tip with the frozen ones. Don't let them sit in the water that comes off them when they defrost. It is a fresh water glaze which washes them out quite quick
Great live under afloat for bass, even catch on bright sunny days. Most fish will take a live prawn if it is presented right. Will work dead as well, particularly for hounds
Dogs aren't so keen which is a plus though. I've had plenty of sessions over that way where razor has outfished every thing else for bass, flats and bream
The Jif lemon and redgill was a gamechanger in the 80's. Not just the numbers of fish, you could now fish the gnarliest shallowest ground without getting caught up. Opened up loadsof good marks
