Has anyone tried armamesh tubing? I've been wondering about trying it with a cocktail of mackerel, mussels and crabs put through a liquidiser and then frozen.

Don't know about herring but we know that vast shoals of mackerel have headed north and are being hoovered up by the Icelanders and Scandinavians so maybe it's down to a shortage of their normal food.

Perhaps they're mistaking porpoises for fish? I wonder if they can catch tuna? Well, the ones that haven't been caught by people fishing for sharks anyway.

So many different opinions! I tried braid as a mainline a few years ago but didn't like it. Tried it as a shockleader but on the BC reefs it didn't last as well as mono. I was also concerned that after a few trips the braid seemed to be fraying and going flat. Possibly because it was cheap braid...

Not many netters operating in the BC. Quite a few people using deadlines though. I've removed 14 multi hook lines in the last 2 years, take the fish, cut all the hooks off and cut a few feet from the middle of the string. When my kids were small I got them a book about the plants and animals on the seashore and in rockpools. One of those kids nets and a crab line kept them entertained for hours.

I suspect its one of those rules that everyone ignores, I doubt if anyone has ever been picked up on undersize mackerel.

It would be difficult but with a big enough deterrent it might have an effect. Confiscation of all gear and boats for instance besides massive fines. Just to be clear, I think this should apply to recreational fishing too.
