South Coast Cogden, I would stay well clear!

From what I've been told, there are certain areas not allowed to be netted. Basically there are nets on every area allowed. I think the area between abbo and bexy in no pots/nets, then the area after Burton mere no nets/pots again. Good to know there were fish at bexy 👍

South Coast Cogden, I would stay well clear!

If anyone is thinking of fishing chesil and has now changed thier plans due to the commercial activity, please send a message to Anna. The more people that do, the more likely it is a resolution can be found that all parties are happy with. For example you guys that have the club match, everyone...

South Coast Cogden, I would stay well clear!

As tides and conditions looked perfect I thought I'd try cogden yesterday. Arrived to find two boats going up and down around 100 yards out, one was definitely a trawler, the other not sure? As I'd paid to park and spent plenty on bait I stayed and hoped they move out which they did...

South Coast After a Devon plaice.

Fished a couple of hours up a couple of hours back on a East Devon beach Saturday. Target was the first plaice of the year. Fairly slow fishing, with a coloured tinge to the water and a horrible swirling wind. First cast resulted in the target a nice plaice of 1lb8oz. A while later another...

South West A short trip on the Bristol Channel.

Managed to get away from work early, so had a short session on one of the channels more sandy marks. Armed with just a bluey and some squid, baits punched into a cold north westerly wind. A total of six thornbacks obliged, plus the usual straps. Plus a lovely bonus bass that was released for...

South West Reefing for a few hours.

I fished out there today, absolute dog fest, must of had 20 of them at least. I did manage a 6lb3oz small eye and bumped another ray off. The wind was a nightmare, it's always a bit swirly, hitting from all directions, always the same out there. Once the dogs thin out it can be brilliant for...

South West Reefing for a few hours.

Took my boy out on the mid bristol channel reefs just to get a few bites. Started at low. First cast lost a nice bass, looked to be 4 maybe 5lb. Boy then lands a nice eel 9lb9oz, then it's my turn with an eel of 11lb7oz. My lad then lands a bass of 5lb2oz, then has his hooks snapped twice by big...

    TronixPro rods?

This is the rod. Managed to pick one up second hand for 20 quid! Absolute bargain. If you see one for sale second hand, I wouldn't even hesitate. Can handle a full pendulum, will send a lead miles.

    TronixPro rods?

Horses for courses really, one persons love is another man's hate. I owned a tronix pro conti rod and it snapped at the joint while casting. I have tried a few in the Tronix range but don't like any of them. Do most of my south coast fishing with a pair of Fox Nemesis rods, must be twenty years...

    South East Happy With That

Yes, I was lucky to meet him on a number of occasions. He was happy to share information, I was only a kid so can only really remember bits. On one occasion I watched him walk onto the beach at seatown, where the water runs into the sea and begin to feed maggots and fish using fresh water float...

    South East Happy With That

Nice fishing! Are you any relation to Hugh Soker? Spent my childhood learning as much as I could from him, would spend all my school holidays on Seatown beach watching and learning....

    North East deaths of Porpoises

Lots of marine mammals washing up dead all around the coastline. The cause being attributed to factory trawlers.

    South West First shore double

That's a cracking fish mate. Despite getting litterally hundreds of 8/9lbers took me ages to get a double squinty, so I know how hard it is! Well done 👍

    Zziplex evolution ct

As has been said, a very user friendly rod, can cope with clean/mixed ground. It's certainly no scaffold pole, easy to load, easy to cast, tip bends nicely in the tide so won't bounce your lead out like some do. If you are intending to fish some rougher ground, it probably wouldn't be ideal, but...

    Akios nitron F15 xp.

Another vote for the fathom 12s. Solid reels that can take some punishment. I load mine with 12 to 15lb mono, can be used on most venues apart from the really rough stuff. Brilliant to cast if magged properly. For my Bristol Channel fishing I use original Sl30Hs loaded with 30lb mono, they take...
