We fished around Caspe , it is quite commercialised ..my pals go without a guide and fish some pretty remote spots but it’s very much hit and miss ..Extramadura is pristine by comparison .

We are looking at a trip to Extramadura , its about three hours west of where we live. The barbel apparently run to mid 30,s. Its a national park .. We fish the jucar River most weeks and whilst the carp are not huge fish compared to the UK they do put up a good scrap ..for the real big stuff...

We used to stay at the George but my pal tells me Witherspoon’s own it now and it’s a bit of a Shiite hole …there was a couple of good Indian’s there as well , one was a balti house that you went upstairs to , proper basic but the food was excellent …

Really miss our trips up to the seven , mainly fished the winterdyne stretch near Bewdley , the last couple of trips was after heavy flooding and it was a struggle , but we had some great catches over the years after wading out to the island swim ( chances are the island has gone by now ) ...

Struggle over here to get any big stuff unless we go up to the Ebro or down south to the national park where there are some big carp and barbel to 35lb ..I think the comizo barbel record is around 38lb ..?..we have been fishing the jucar river near Valencia mid teens is our best so far , 22lb is...

Cracking that Steve ..?..your journey through England brought back a few memories of our trip down to Spain .The day before I left I had to drive up to Bewdley , then back to Kent to hitch our trailer then down to Portsmouth for the crossing to Caen ..the run up to Bewdley and back took seven...

I got looking at chair attachments and it seemed a lightweight alternative ...I use the pod weekly but had never really played about with it in as much as using all the other posts and extensions ..I bought it of tournamag I year or so ago but just used it for carp with the same set up...

Edited again to say I’ve put the extension piece in which makes the whole thing a lot more stable and takes the bow out of the rod .. Dummy run on the balcony , I had a hell of a bite from the allo Vera plant but never managed land it ..I’ve got a couple of locking butt rests due tomorrow to...

You could be right ....? edited to say I’ve had a play about with the pod and a peg should hold it down , I’ve put the short post on the back and seems a decent angle to see the tip ..especially if I fish at an angle ..??
