Hi, apologies not posted for a while , had this one today in Southampton 4 lb 2oz, on my float rod and centrepin and bread as bait , put up a really good fight , nice to be out in the sun 🌞
They are good rods but a bit top heavy , I use mine occasionaly but I prefer rods with glass tips(such as the Daiwa Supercast).
I've also got a Fireblade (not the glass tip one) and it's lighter and slimmer but a stiff rod all the same .
Hi , fished at Netley today between 12 and 4 o'clock, fished 2 rods with 1 hook clipped down as usual , with size 1 hooks and rag for bait .
Had a nice little flounder so happy with it not caught one for years !
Weston shore is not brilliant for fishing , but if you fish with rag in summer you might catch schoolie bass or maybe small smoothounds .Its easy to fish no strong tides or anything to worry about. You can only really fish it over high tide, at low tide its mud flats . Hope this helps .
Fished over low water at Netley hoping for a Thornback , fished mackerel baits , caught one dogfish but that was it .
Fished on the remains of an old jetty very snaggy , has any one had success with rays in Southampton water?
I know they do turn up because I found some washed up in the past...
Sounds like you'd be better off with the fathom which are built like tanks compared to an Abu .
Plus you get a ratchet which is handy for smoothounds .
Akios have a reel under £100 , new , it's called a Dynamo has centrifugal brakes and a ratchet but no mags ( I guess thats why its cheaper than their magged reels), also its orange .
Its on there website 89 pounds , might be worth a look if you want something new under £100 .
Hi fished at Browndown last night , fished two rods both with mackerel baits one a 2/0 hook the other a 4/0.Both cast as far as I could with the sideways wind !
Fished the tide down to low water from just as it got dark .
Started by catching 3 dogfish and a small smoothound then had a really...
I did try it once reel down but couldn't get on with it I shall persevere with it a bit more .
Would off the ground cast(brighton cast)be better with a glass tip or carbon tip ?
