Crimp pliers

I can't offer any help - I don't use standard Crimps. Not a fan of them.
I do sometimes use the Breakaway movable ones with the rubber insert. Depending on how hard you Crimp them up, they're either movable or fixed, and the rubber insert helps protect the Mono. They came with their own special little Crimp tool.

Im a fan of the breakaway adjustable crimps too, I use the tool they supply to crimp them down..
I also think they help with snags too as the crimps slide under pressure allowing the hook length to slide down the rig body..

I've buggered about with power gum stop knots and every conceivable type of crimp including the Breakaway adjusta but have come back full circle to the excellent telephone wire twists. They really are unbeatable
