I was working in Aberdeen this last couple of days and sensed the opportunity of an early finish. Having chucked the rods in the truck this morning, we blasted through work, then headed up to a favourite mark near to Findon. I know it's early but thought might as well have a crack at the cod, if nothing else to get rid of the rust.

Bait was squid, blacks, mack and a few lug dug after work yesterday.

Simple report really.

Water was far too calm. Scratched out a little pollock, the first I've seen there. Lots of little fish kicking around, but I had out 5/0s. Lots of bites but nothing of note.

Was thinking of packing up but truck it out and eventually got a better bite, which after a battle through various snags, resulted in the first codling of the season. 20220927_201045.jpg
Only a wee one, about a pound and a half. Unfortunately he took the hook badly, and didn't make it in the rock pool.

Nice to hit the target species, and hopefully the first of many this year.

Cheers
Steve
