Got out afloat again yesterday from Starr Gate on a cold but sunny day that called for both suncream and thermals - I had to de ice the car 1st thing again. Quite a few launched from both clubs, taking advantage of weather, sea and tide conditions. Most boats stayed inshore and went hunting for bass on the known marks. We managed a couple to just over 4lb on lug baits but the fishing was generally slow with just a few founder and one plaice snafflng the well loaded 6/0 pennels. We had lovely clear water on the flood so tried lures but without success. Other boats that ventured out off shore to Gut Bouy and beyond found mackerel, herring and tope. It's changing out there which bodes well for both boat and shore. Just need some settled warm weather. Will try again at the next opportunity
