North West Oil spill in Irish sea

There has been an oil spill off Rhyl from a pipeline between the Conwy and Douglas platforms. 79,000 litres heading to a beach near you.....
Very fortunate that the current storms may be able to dissipate much of it???

I can't see any recent news reports most are 4 or 5 days old one saying tar balls had washed up on Blackpool beaches looks like the storms have broken it up. ?

The continuing storms are certainly helping. The locsl council reports there is a major clean up operation in place lead by Eni UK. Folk have been asked to stay off the beaches and told to avoid touching the tarballs described as 'dangerous hydrocarbons'.
I guess we'll see what the outcome is once the weather calms down. I shudder to think how it would have turned out if it had been settled calm weather!
