Not posted in a while so last Saturday seen me heading down from the Midlands to Gosport on the Solent..
Plan was a day Bass fishing on charter Kelley’s Heroes with a group of regulars I’ve been fishing with
A Mad Hatters Day out

We met for breakfast and then headed down to load up..
First part of the day was to catch some live bait and then drift the banks for Bass with both lures and live bait..
First drift started with 3 fish for the boat and my 1st fish of the day.
Second drift and the magic happened
A PB for me

yes my biggest fish ever after many sessions both shore and boat I finally caught something big enough to eat .
Also took a sabiki to the finger so the insulation tape came in handy ??
Few more drifts and lots more fish added to the tally
Mainly schoolies upto 45cm which were mostly released.
I then added a 2nd decent fish for the freezer

Day was going strong but the tide was starting to die of and so we anchored up for slack water..
The fun did not stop there , with a few more fish being added to the tally was ncluding the complimentary dogfish and straps
I had the usual tap of what I thought was a doggie turned out to be a bit of a fighter
Another PB for me boated

bait back out…. was a mixture of mackerel flapper and whole squid.
Seconds later another set of tap tap tap and a 2nd Huss to the boat..
Dam i was on fire ?

we then went back to drifting as the current got stronger and the Bass were on the feed once more

Several drifts and fish later it was time to pack up and head in
Me with my 2 fish I kept with probably another 10 caught and released

But regardless of anything else ,
it was a fantastic day with targets reached and smashed
Most people taking atleast one fish home with them.
Now looking forward to my next trip in a few weeks time ??

Nice catch , ??,at least you didn't catch anything that went bang,a fishing boat dragged on up a WW2 bomb the other day,see the report in banter section ,title explosion.

Ignore him Rich, I can see it’s real!

Top fishing buddy. That bass looks a cracker but the Huss is bloody enormous!

Great report, what was the winning bait on the day.

Assume it was either Ian or Becks who took you out. Know their stuff & will always try hard for you.

Looks like you visited the Overfalls for the bass.
