I had an Intrepic Pirate reel to go on my 464, in those days fish were plenty. Used fresh lug (blow) and peelers.

My Grandson (10yrs old) wants me to take him sea fishing, I confirmed as soon as the sea warms up a bit we will take him as well as his dad (son).

I have an Abu 464 in the back of my shed on a rack somewhere, it was fine way back when but things have moved on with carbon fibre.

Sandeels just drift them in the tide, either from a boat or shore minimum weight works.

Size 4 barbed beak for flatties works for me.

Overpriced and over here imo.

I always thought catching was a bonus, it's the fresh air and dangling that's important.

You can get only what people are prepared to pay.

I have one from the 70's and use it over sand when the tide is out around Lancing/Worthing area. I tend to get plenty of prawns & shrimps, not many sandeels about though. A few undersized place/dabs & weavers which are always returned.
