    Casting advice

Surely the safe way is to go by what the casting recommendation is on the rod, eg 4-8oz. Not many rods don't have it, so just go less than it says, as long as it's enough. I reckon you'll have a job snapping a rod, even if you try to, most will become impossible to cast before they break. Of...

    Daiwa 7 ht

I personally wouldn't use WD40 / white spirit or similar at this stage, I would use lighter fuel. If you do get it off ok which you should, it WILL be ok with new bearings.

    Braid!

    Fishing Rods?

    Fishing Rods?

Life's all about enjoyment, and I reckon in most cases it's far more enjoyable using quality tackle. Obviously if you can afford it of course. It will catch you more fish if it means you can get that extra distance if the fish aren't close in.

    Heavy FS Reels?

I use both multies and FS, depends how I feel on the day. I have a Shimano XTB ci 14000 which is a belter, an Okumo 8000, a bit heavy but solid, and a Cinettic Raycast which is like a Rolls Royce, hardly used.

    Where’s the cod!

And there's millions in the North Sea off Whitby. A lot of just keepers mind, that go back, but still plenty of 4lb and over.
