South Wales Fishing with the boy over Easter.

Few sessions from over the Easter holidays when I've taken my son out. To say he's 'Hooked' would be an understatement!! All he talks about is Fish, and Fishing, sometimes he stunns me lol!! Cracking flounder for him off Aberafon. Taken on sticky blacks close in. Daddy blanked ??? and I...

    West Wales pendine 11/04

Took my boy down there the other day, 1 flounder for me. The boy had a cracking slack line bit that failed to connect. Not enough surf for my liking at the moment, need the winds to go a more SW direction for a bit I think. Nice easy beach to fish though.

Wales Your Favourite Local Tackle Shop

HR Jones, Clydach, Swansea. It's tucked away above a hardware store, an absolute Aladdins cave of tackle and bait!

South Wales Loughor Green Banks, Dad and Son

Took my youngest (6yr old) for his 1st session targeting Flounder up the Loughor estuary. Bit of a different experience for him, as I normally take him to our local surf beach. And I'm more of a 4/0 hooks 6oz lead kind of guy. Plus Mud instead of sand lol. Target acquired 2nd cast for him, and a...

    South Wales Lockdown beach (Aberavon)

It kind of works, I always remember my nan doing it that way. The boiling water removes all the scales (or denticles in dogfish case) not the actual skin and partiality cooks them.

Advice Surf rod for a young boy.

Angling Active. Found a voucher code for a £5 off, which covered shipping really. 54.99 all in.

Advice Surf rod for a young boy.

Got a mk2 delivered. I think it'll be perfect. Slim, light, not too long. The reel seat to but cap distance is just about right. The quality of finish isn't great, and a bit garish but for a 50 quid rod I'd expect that.

    South Wales Lockdown beach (Aberavon)

No solo mission today, he was in school. He wasn't happy I caught fish without him lol.

    South Wales Lockdown beach (Aberavon)

Aberavon is the only open beach I can really fish at the moment due to restrictions in place. The Dogfish are in! Kept me busy, and hoping for a thornback in between them today. Didn't happen though. Stopped counting after number 10 lol! Fished 3 down to low, 2 up. Last hour went very quiet.

Advice Surf rod for a young boy.

My son is really getting into his fishing now, and want's a rod for his birthday or xmas (2 days apart!). He's 6 and a little doot. He's been using my 9ft spinning rod to lob baits and 2-3oz, 20-30yds into the surf, catching schoolie bass flatties and even little rays. He's hooked! I tried him...
