Plenty of shore rockling there, but they are not spread out all over. You need to drop your bait in amongst the boulders, or close by. Keep rigs simple as you will lose some.

South Coast Of sinister and dextrous things...

I haven't posted a catch report for quite a few months, so here goes, but don't get too excited. I popped down to my local harbour for an evening's fishing this Tuesday. The plan was to fish the flood, partly in daylight, and partly in darkness, just to see if I could bag any new species for...

South Coast Got one of my "extra" targets for the year!

Nice wrasse! I was there today notching up some minis. I was talking to a lady who mentioned a 15 inch wrasse. Probably the same lady and the same wrasse!

South Coast Bass and Pollack landing restrictions

Thanks. I've read the pollack proposals, but I didn't know if they have been agreed.

Can anyone tell me the 2024 regulations regarding taking bass and pollack (RSA only).

    South Coast September round up.

Nice stories. Reminds me of when I was a lad fishing on Saltburn pier. I was half-way along and the end got struck. Great times!

South Coast Summer Solstice Shingle Session

What better way to celebrate the Summer Solstice than with a session on the shingle. So I pitched-up on my local beach to see what was about. There was a chance for some new additions to my species hunt. I had fresh ragworm plus squid and prawns, so twin flattie rods were set-up, each with a...

South Coast A quick shanny behind the toilets and other stuff!

I know what you mean. You wouldn't believe how many hours I put in to getting a goldsinny. I tried micro sabikis unsuccessfully for the micro herrings and then caught one by accident on my wrasse rig. I have failed utterly on the gars, gurnards and dragonets, but hey ho, if we always caught...

South West Final species session for the AT comp.

Well done. Corbin's sandeels are more common than people think. I get a few when feathering for bait when boat fishing out of Beer in Devon. Every one has been a Corbin's and I've never had a launce there. Contrary to what the text books say I have never seen the bicuspid teeth in a Corbin's...

South Coast Crabs, but not the good kind...

With Monday being the only day without rain being forecast, I decided to pop down to Weymouth and see if I could bag another species. I pitched up on the Stone Pier and set up two rods. One with a float to see if I could tempt an early garfish, and the other with small hooks baited with rag to...

    South Coast Three trips.

Sorry, I'm done with rockling. Only need one a year. I will go back to West Bay when there are more species available.
