Hi mate, I’m planing on starting out on the Lepe beach area, but also maybe town quay too? Is 20lb mono fine, or is it better to be braided?

I already have 30lb line and some 50lb shock leader, would that be okay?

So following on from my previous post, these are the rods I bought and their specs. Turns out it’s 150g max not 180. My friend has given me 30lb mono line, is that okay, so I need more or less? With a main line of 30lb would I still require a shock leader when using 4oz lead?

I stand corrected my rods are 80 -150g strength. These are the specs.

Thanks guys, for those asking this is the rods I have bought. My friend have me 30lb mono line. Is that any good? I know a lot of people say braided is best for sea, but apparently mono can be good. With a line that heavy would I still need a shock leader? I’ll be fishing mainly bass.

So I just don’t want anything on the end of my line like my lead, bait etc to exceed the maximum casting weight?

I’ve just gotten into sea fishing so don’t know alot. But I’m going to be fishing from shore. I’ve just bought a rod with a max casting weight of 80-180g. So what weights do I use? Everywhere I goggle it says 2-3oz if not higher. But does the casting weight mean anything on the end of my line...
