Well done perserving through the dogfish. I can remember when they were a rarity from the shore. Not one of the most common fish to be had form shore and boat!
Pictures please of the deserts would be good next time!
Here you go for all you non FB folks.
Apparently tried to return it. I would have too as doubt it’d taste that great at that size. But if it wasn’t going swimming off then might as well take it home. The smaller one definitely would have been coming home!
Actually I was quite pleased as I only had 3 slugs as my mate had 13, they seemed to like his frozen black lug🤣.
To be fair it was better than a blank and what you’d expect given the conditions in Feb. Won’t catch anything sat at home but am looking forward to Spring and some settled weather.
Thanks Bob. Defo catch up when this weather settles.
You made the right choice as there were strong wind gusts, white horses, hail and rain and don’t think it would have been any fun wrecking.
Was going for a plaice, about the only decent target this time of year there but is a bit early. Good to get back out but wasn’t expecting much with the conditions forecast and could only get rag and no lug. Had to go in to Brighton in the afternoon so made sense to go and have a try in the...
Yep. Our efforts aren’t searching the surface. But then can you blame them, we chopped down all our forests and industrialised to improve living standards. Arguably they know the impact now so maybe if the rich western countries were to donate funds to improve their standard without them...
Do you mean he’s not really targeting those Threshers, that Cornwall is well known for🤣. Blondes, small eyes, thornies undulates all skinned and sold as roker. They had no catch limits but then bye catch allowed and now have quota for undulates. Chesil and Sussex beaches have seem massive...
For me it’s over fishing that’s caused the collapse. Saw it at the Grand Banks with their cod stocks before global warming really kicked in. Look at the undulate ray position. Anglers were at last starting to catch quite a few after a ban on commercial fishing. Numbers increased, ban lifted...
It’s not just cod getting scarce though is it! A charter from Brighton this weekend saw about 10 pollack caught for the whole crew of 10, with 1 or 2 touching double figures. Facebook reports from 2 Eastbourne boats seemed to suggest the same results this weekend. Most fish sizes are...
Whatever the reasons I don’t think we’ll see any recovery of the cod fishing in the UK. Rather do 2 charter trips a month here which I used to do I now invest in the Norwegian economy with 1-2 11 days trips each year. Two UK turbot trips last year resulted in nothing big enough to keep so...
I think you are right. More chance of catching a white horse with a pointy horn than getting a cod at Dungy nowadays. Not sure what best bait will be, an apple or sugar cube? 🤣
