I use the Daiwa mini split ring pliers and find them very useful. I noticed that they have a larger model (Prorex) that has more features and I would consider them if I needed to buy another pair.
Nice to be kept busy on the boat with such an interesting variety of species.
Heading down to Luce Bay tomorrow hoping to emulate some of your success if the wind allows the boat to be used...
I couldn't resist the opportunity to try again since the boat will be coming out of the marina at the end of the month in preparation for its summer holidays on Luce Bay.
The wind was stronger than forecast, creating a swell that made each drift just a tad uncomfortable.
I fished the last 2...
Nice day out Stewart well done.
I'm sure you'll be a fly fisherman.
I would love to try some of the big trout lochs again but I can't find minnows:whistle: anywhere locally.
Laugh all you like.
I felt that the Scottish forum on this site lacked a bit of interest, so I shared my fishing session there.
I would never have mentioned the Rangers-Celtic debacle (and it's protagonists) from elsewhere on here so maybe I'll think twice about posting again.
Warby, you're surely confusing him with that irrational, sociopathic, "sing when you're winning" Celtic fan that disappeared from the dark side to body swerve Willie when his team was humiliated and couldn't see Rangers coming.
You know, the one with the dog that's had it's day.....
We had a...
Well, since my good friend Willie had appeared at my door last week with a bucket of prime ragworm, a boat session looked to be on the cards when the weather improved.
That happened on Saturday. Unfortunately Willie had an appointment with some Aberdonians in Govan so I had to head out alone. I...
I've used these DELTA lights for a good few years now.
I've whipped the holders (the right way round:rolleyes:) on to all my beach rods.
Choice of colours -red is probably brightest but they all work well- and batteries are economical enough and the duration is good.
If you are using float fishing tactics you could try for wrasse between Hunterston power station and Portencross pier.
Park at the end of the road at the power station and walk towards Portencross until you see a comfortable spot to fish.
Ragworm (from Fairlie!!) would be your best bait and...
Great first report on your Talk Sea Fishing debut.
Your fish in the photo is not a wrasse, it's a goby.
Well a lesson for me, I wouldn't have tried the pier:rolleyes:. Never been good to me in 60 years:oops:
Splash Sports is your best bet for bait and information on the area you will be targetting.
They are in Ardrossan close to the harbour.
There are a few marks worth fishing in the area. Your very best bet for fish at Portencross is wrasse that you can take on float fished bait, ragworm being the...
Great report and photos.
Always a pleasure to hear of such fine catches in Scottish waters.
Well done.
Strange though how the razor blade shortages in Kent haven't been reported:unsure:
I sometimes get quite close to Carradale on largely exploratory trips out of Ardrossan on my boat but never quite made it all the way.
Pladda is a little further in the opposite direction for me and usually doesn't disappoint.
I might take the boat for a run up to Carradale this year.
I would...
