Me too, heading up for the blues festival. In between sets I'll be climbing down the rocks after the pollock.
Never fished anywhere like orkney. It's amazing. Do you think you'll wet a line?
Depends on the fishing for me. I usually fish with a mate, but happy on my own.
A lot of the marks I fish in the winter (northeast scotland) are not really sensible on your own, and usually in a storm. They're a couple of hours drive away as well.
The key is having a decent mate 🤣
If either...
I was working in Aberdeen this last couple of days and sensed the opportunity of an early finish. Having chucked the rods in the truck this morning, we blasted through work, then headed up to a favourite mark near to Findon. I know it's early but thought might as well have a crack at the cod, if...
I would suggest a stop off at armadale pier.
You will easily feather enough mackerel to cover your bait needs. Just keep it cool and I would say its going to be the most effective bait.
Where abouts are you heading?
Massive blank lol. Couple of knocks but nought at all. Ah well lovely moon last night.
Was out Stonehaven direction.
Hope you got out 'ouththathurt".
Next time there will be fish I promise ?
Anyone know of a decent online webcam along that stretch of coastline, because the forecast was so...
Thought I'd share. Out on the east coast tonight, two rods out, squid and blacks on one, squid and mack on the other. First cast in the water.
Who else is out?
Drove a couple of hours expecting a reasonable sea, but it's far too flat. Hey ho, here now.
Cheers folks.
Was a very enjoyable night. Bit calmer than I would have liked, but still some swell and colour.
Headed to a favourite spot on aberdeenshire Coast.
Baits were lug, blacks, mackerel and squid. Was slow going, but pulled out 6 between us 3 each. Best one shown below.
Felt so...
Been pottering about catching mackerel, taking kids out etc, nothing worth posting about.
Tomorrow night is first crack at the cod, hopefully plenty of reports to come over next few months. Freezer is stocked up on bait, some fresh lug dug today after I got rained off at work. Rigs are tied...
Completely depends on the type of fishing for me. Beach/pier probably 4.
On rough ground in the winter, don't expect to use the same rig twice, bonus if I do.
Probably double figures on really rough ground.
