South East 1st sea fishing trip 2022

Quick one ... small tide, just thought I'd try a few hours ray fishing, even though I know they may not be there in any numbers.
1 rod usual 4/0 pennels whole squid trying for something better.
Lots of bites each cast guessing mainly whiting, but some flounder and rockling type bites aswell . Hooks too big .
Reeled in one whiting that was it

Lovely evening though light wind from behind.
Just to get out. Only used 3 squid and a short drive .
Wasn't expecting much nice to be out though .

Thank you for the report. It is strange how they can be there one tide and not the next. Seems to be same with the dogfish. Hopefully it will pick up soon.???

Wow, what size hooks were you using to avoid hooking sea rats?
I still get them on 10/0s!?
