With the tide being in early hours of the morning I didn’t fancy a late one trying for sole at usual mark and also a bit early in the season. So decide to visit Dungeness after a gap of about 5-6 years. It used to fish well before ting and doggies were almost ever present 365 days per year. Thought it was worth another visit to see if things had changed although wasn’t expecting much tbh. Well it turned out I was 50% correct, the doggies were present although the ting were absent.

Fishing 2 rods from about 3.30-9.30pm I had just 3 casts that didn’t produce a fish. I would guess I had around 30 fish evenly spread amongst doggies, flounders and dabs, but none of the flatties being any great size. Still nice to see them and who knows maybe later in the year there might be some sole too! The weed was horrendous though, that type that’s mud coloured and needs picking off with your nails. Hope that’s gone by the time I next venture out!

Sounds like a busy session. Used to get lovely sized dabs at Dungie and lots of them.
The black weed is May rot which is really irritating and a real pain to get off. You have my sympathy. Should go in the next few weeks.
👍🏼😎

Thanks, it was good to revisit an old favourite. 17 sole and half a dozen or so bass was best session I had there. Over 20 years ago now! No doggies or ting in the summer back then at Dungy. Yep, probably next out in fortnight’s time when hopefully that may rot will have buggered off. 🙏

Nice report LIF! Well done! 🎣🎣👍👍

Thought you might have had a chance of an early sole Nige, but good to see a flounder or two. Hope to catch up soon, all the best.

Thanks Bob. As the pins weren’t there I could be tempted to try later in the year but probably need a decent settled spell to keep them away. Might try west for some sole in a fortnights time if you fancy giving it a try, Friday or Saturday depending on conditions.

Nice report mate, lovely mixed bag as well. Great pics too... 🎣 🎣

Ian.
