With the tide being in early hours of the morning I didn’t fancy a late one trying for sole at usual mark and also a bit early in the season. So decide to visit Dungeness after a gap of about 5-6 years. It used to fish well before ting and doggies were almost ever present 365 days per year. Thought it was worth another visit to see if things had changed although wasn’t expecting much tbh. Well it turned out I was 50% correct, the doggies were present although the ting were absent.
Fishing 2 rods from about 3.30-9.30pm I had just 3 casts that didn’t produce a fish. I would guess I had around 30 fish evenly spread amongst doggies, flounders and dabs, but none of the flatties being any great size. Still nice to see them and who knows maybe later in the year there might be some sole too! The weed was horrendous though, that type that’s mud coloured and needs picking off with your nails. Hope that’s gone by the time I next venture out!
