Hello, I'm Rob and a newbie too this type of fishing, I've acquired a load of kit from a family member, but have no idea about it too much. If anyone could give me any information on this rod and reel setup it would be very welcomed.
Thanks in advance.

It actually looks like my wrecking set up from 1990. I think that rod is a daiwa 80lb class.
Last time I saw it I part exed it into Alans Marine in Pompey against a zziplex 2500.
The reel was sold by Daiwa between 1988 and 1994 by Daiwa.
It was one of the first reels you could get a giant wrecking handle for and I think I still have one somewhere, it was an extra 15 quid.

Pete could be right about it being a Daiwa rod. I have an original Shakespeare Ugly Stik boat rod with exactly the same whipping colours and pattern so it might also be one of those. I think the older rods were built on American blanks which were good quality and considered almost indestructible. The bottom double roller guide looks to be damaged or corroded with a missing roller. If you decide to refurbish the rod I have a set of AFTCO roller guides including a double roller butt guide. You could replace the whole guide or maybe just replace the rollers if they fit.

Welcome Rob

It`s a bit of a mismatch. Looks like an Ugly stick rod, Daiwa did not use aftco a lot they used Weyland rollers, shaky used Aftco. Cheapy reel seat which should be alloy. Grip below the reel seat is EVA or similar and not a lot of good in a rod holder.

The guides on the rod are Aftco HD. 3 sizes of Aftco. 12 -20lb rods Aftco regular (as skaters pic), 30 -50lb rods Aftco HD and 80lb + rods Aftco SHD (or bigfoot).

Reel is a Daiwa Sealine, size 9/0 ??????????????????? 9/0 is for marlin and tuna. UK Sharking or wrecking 4/0 to 6/0 more than enough. Reels were OK but built to look like Penn Senators which they most certainly were not. Daiwa even tried to make it look big and tough by putting the rod brace on but it is still just a Senator copy.

It appears to be a copper rod, possibly used in electrical wiring or grounding applications. Copper's conductivity makes it a common choice for such purposes. However, without more context or details about its size and any markings, it's challenging to determine its specific use. If you provide more information, I can offer a more precise identification.
I reckon that you are making it up.

I'm pretty sure it's a fishing rod not a lightning rod, sorry if my identification is not precise enough.
