Well I set the alarm for 0530 and set off for the 5min drive to the beach. On arrival, the sea was a lot more rough than I expected, but I thought I’d give it a go. Both rods were rigged up with two hook clipped down rigs baited with lug and squid, with 5oz leads. As I was baiting up the 2nd rod, tucked away from the wind behind the sea wall, a huge wave broke and landed slap bang on top of me… several gallons of freezing water in my waders was not what I was looking for! Both rods were soon in the sea that was slightly wetter than I was! 5mins later, both rods were back on the beach again… 5oz wasn’t enough to hold bottom. I went up to 6oz which held for a few mins longer, but the heavy weed soon wiped both rods out. After 2hrs of fighting the conditions and shivering my teeth loose, I gave up and came home. As for fish? Blankety blank!
