Unfortunately the weather was absolutely blowing with high on shore wind…… so I went down to eastney in portsmouth anyway
I turned up massive waves wind blowing me sideways. Trudged past 2 anglers cowing in their shelters rods rattling in the wind. “ any luck?” “Not a single bite in 5 hours” was the response. Great!
Well I set up the shelter first so I wasn’t fannying about in the wind chill. Then I sat down and drunk my flask of tea for the next hour whilst watching the waves.
I decided to just chuck 1 rod out just a short pulley pennel with a 6oz gripper and a whole small squid, after a pretty uncoordinated wind swept cast I managed to get it over the breakers and to my joy it held bottom and was sitting pretty.
I then sat back in my shelter consumed 2 mince pies and some cheese while sitting watching my rod tip not spin a lot. An hour passed I decided to reel in….. squid looked as fresh as it did on the first chuck swapped it for a fresh one and out it went.
Back in the shelter I’ve now dig out some boiled sweets that were left in my pocket from last night.
Quick check of the weather app…. The winds are going to get stronger and bring rain too…. 2 hours after high blanking like an absolute good’un I decided to call it a day.
Trudged back along the beach now at least one stone fatter, said good luck to the anglers and went home for dinner I love eating at Christmas!
Nice day at the beach, better than nowt!
