Is there a cost effective option for rig body line?

I currently have sakuma 70lb rig body but at 100m it won't go too far. Blue marlin in 80lb is recommended by Sandman in many of his videos but it is now out of production. I am thinking maybe a bulk 80lb spool of Berekely big game?
What do you all use, any suggestions/options?

I just use lengths of 60lbs asso classic at the moment lol and 30lbs for the hooklink depending on target species ...hasnt knocked my catch rate at all I don't think . 5 quid a spool for about 1500m

That would be another option, found it in 70lb which would cover needs.

I used yuki 3d in1000metre spools in 80lb darm sight cheaper than meny other lines ,I get it from veals ,its a lovely line thin for its braking strain ,and tough has old boots ,I also use it as my main line in 20lb at only 0.30 ,the 80lb comes out at 0.60 ,so it covers my rig bodys and leaders ,I dont use any other line now on my multi's ,except braid on my fathom 15cs

I use Berkeley big game 80-100lb on the big spools ‘dark green’ for rig bodies, it’s nice to Knott and very tough. I use it for leaders on my shark reels too. ?

Hi Thrasher
I am currently using Berkley Big Game like you suggest, and I would recommend it. I got a big spool from VMO.

I have also got a spool of 80lb ultima powerflex which I am using as shockleader. I am a big fan of that too.

Matt

80lb powerflex is the only casting leader I will use love it, the big game is perfect for rig bodies

Thanks, I am on fixed spools with braid mainline and leader. Good to know folks are happy with a few options if something is not available.

I use the Linetech from Blakdog too. No nonsense and great value. I also like the clips he does in bulk. Since the death of our local shop I'd much rather support him as a small independent that communicates really well, posts on time and puts back into the sport with good advice across the forums, tutorials on his website and genuine tackle developments etc etc than deal with the faceless mail order giants or worse the likes of Angling Direct and Go Outdoors.

I generally use 80lb asso ultra flex on all my rig bodies, I do have a spool of 50lb of the same for lighter rigs but I tend to just use 80 for bodies. 4oz spools

I did notice maxima do a ferkin huge spool of chameleon which I’d like but it’s difficult to get hold of! Would last for years though and that would suit me!

You do seem to have to hunt around a bit for some of the suggestions and I have seen the bulk Maxima too but not in a heavy BS, more aimed at mainline weights.

Yes I think 60lb was the highest it goes in the huge spools, they’re 3000 yards or so. Shame they don’t do them in 80lb, 600 yards was the most in 80lb which is £45ish on the bay
