Hi

Can anyone recommend a good sea fishing travel rod for shore and rock fishing also capable of catching bigger fish. I'm traveling abroad for holiday.

i'm currently looking at

Shimano ALIVIO SLIM TE GT 330 XH | GO Outdoors

Telescopic rod in modern, lightweight, strong construction
www.gooutdoors.co.uk

XH stands for extra heavy

although i can't find it in 2.70metre or 3metres lengths.

Garbolino Sunset SUNFISH ZXR FD Reel + Line | GO Outdoors

Designed for the sea, this reel is ideal for boat and beach fishing.

any help would be really appreciated

Welcome to the Madhouse Ryan! I don't own any travel rods, but from my experience, telescopic rods are not the best critters to use. As for that reel, I'm surprised it doesn't say what line it is pre-loaded with? I'm sure someone will advise better than I can in due course.

I know money isn’t everything but without sounding harsh I cannot believe a reel costing less than £15 (including line) is probably up to much. Maybe as a one off fishing trip might be ok but if you intend using more often I would maybe up the budget a bit if you are comfortable with that. Especially if you are going abroad to fish……..
But whatever, I think I would prefer to spool my reel with a line of repute with a known breaking strain.
If you havnt already done so you could Google the rod and I believe there is a review or two….
Hope you catch a few on whatever you do buy.

If you do set your heart on an Alivio Telescopic rod, there is a cheaper 2.7 metre one here:

Have a look at the Rovex Ceratec 9ft 4 piece bass rod, awesome piece of kit.
