Been a while since last my last report so here’s a round up. A few trips to the Medway, which is quite a long trek as it’s a good 50 yards from my front door?. Days of getting bass to 8.5lb seem a long time ago and recent years it’s mostly been schoolies. Still thought worth a try and in the first session I had about 25, even a triple shot at one point. I did manage to wrinkle out a keeper.

That’s been the pattern for subsequent trips although fewer numbers but managed a keeper in 3 out of 5 sessions. The eels seem to be making a comeback too. All put back. No flounders though.

A trip last night to Brighton in a search for a early sole drew a blank on the sole front. However just using blacks and rag I had a mixed catch. Smoothie puppies and one decent one, 3 small thornies about 3lb, 8 plaice, best 32cm, a bream, 4 schoolie bass and a 27cm dab. Nothing really to get to excited about but was an interesting session. Especially after getting weeded out on the previous 2 at Hove and Shoreham. My mate managed a small slip sole and did have a couple of decent ones on one of the previous trips so shouldn’t be too long before they are about in better numbers.

Well done Leginfisher! Nice report, great pics, and a good mix of fishy species. ??

Nice going mate and thanks for reporting. It's good reading reports from other areas, as one person's target can be someone else's pest fish. Also seasonal fish are different in different areas or is it that if you don't target them, you don't catch them? My first sole were in Jan and over @bananas way the mackerel seem to be there most of the time, like thornies in other areas, etc. Nice mixed bag there. Those 50 yard hikes must be killer though!

Cheers. Those 50 yards can be quite hard to negotiate, especially after a couple or so beers?. Had a few nice bass using up bait from an unsuccessful boat or beach trip, making you wish you’d stayed locally! A couple of sea trout on frozen blacks and roach on maddies on size 1s at low tide. Sole plaice and flounders too in the past.

Good little session mate, nice one. Tight Lines.

Ian.
