My mate caught this last night he was on the rough so it got called as a bull Huss but we aren’t so sure we think it’s a dog if it is that alters the points he whould have scored so @bananas @cap'nhaddock @Goateeblank and anymore of you wot you recon

Although I have never seen a Huss or a doggy I would say that is a Huss 100%

I would say Dogfish as I cant see any nasal flaps, in general dogs have smaller spots than huss, tho thats not the best ID for them, they can be as dark coloured as well, depends on the habitat they been living in.

Never caught a huss. Plenty of doggies and my first thought was doggy.

I think in the southwest we have a new spieces a cross between a Huss and a dog , we will call it a doss I recon , Extra points for that one

I'd say dogfish aswell. Huss have the little whiskers on the nasal flaps as per the pic above. It looks a good size for a doggie too, well done to whoever caught that!

It was my mates 2lb 2 oz so no specimen but decent fish ?

Not really flaps as myself and quite a few others called it as a Huss last night that’s why I put it up here cause most of us weren’t 100 per cent sure on it

I think it's a dogfish, colouration is more like a typical huss but colour is a poor way of identifying fish and can vary according to where the fish is caught.

It was caught on rough ground at branscome I had a Huss there last night and it was completely black

Dog all day. can't argue with the flaps. You see plenty of dogs that colour and much much darker as well. Spot size again is wrong for huss

Sorry, late to the party. Been to the drag racing, motorised I might add. @bananas picture says it all. Its all about the flaps or lack of, which brings me back to the drag racing!

Looks like a dogfish to me.

Sometimes the attitude of the fish gives a clue, Huss don't play nicely when you unhook them, dogfish are far more docile.
