South Coast Town Quay, Southampton and no more fishing for me for a while.

So sorry Mr G. I will miss your reports during your furlough. Though not a species hunt guy myself (not to denigrate the bigger stuff you land both on your own and with Bazza) I love reading about your escapades. Get better soon. R.

South Coast Anyone fancy a go on Chesil tomorrow?

Catch well Pete. I was at Cogden last night. very doggy! Tide was a bit ferocious as well. Moon was a bit bright for the sole, though I caught a dab which always cheers me up. One of the 2lb cods on the last cast which was safely returned.

    South Coast Chesil

I found it tough today just before the cottages. A Gurnard, a couple of dogs and a couple of mini codling. Very weedy, moved down to one rod. I suspect if I could have got a few more yards then I might have cast over the weed, but I had to clean it off a couple of times every retrieve...

    South East absolute beginner(s) questions

So I can't help past Selsey, and don't have much to say about Southampton and Pompey marks. Night time now. Fish the last couple of hours of daylight to get your eye in and try for a plaice or bream (pop ups for bream). Then when it gets dark one rod in the gutter with a chunk of mackerel for...

    South Coast Cogden yesterday

No black, then later a brown jacket. Fished in front of the glasshouse.

    South Coast Cogden yesterday

Didn't see Pete, I'd wandered East by then, but might have said hello to John starting out on the big walk. Walked well East, arrived at low, to find a strong current and plentiful weed. Put the spikes on, and had three bites during the early flood, all producing a keeper plaice, best about a...

    South Coast Cogden last night

Fished it low to high and down to low again. Walked along the beach east a fair way, set up in front of the second house. Shuffled around a bit to find the clay, 'cos I'm not the biggest caster on the beach. Three plaice in daylight, one to keep that was maybe a pound and a half...

    South Coast Southbourne 21st

South Coast Biteless and fishless at Cogden

Fished 4.30 until 10.30. A big shoal of Mackerel had just been through, to judge from the whitebait on the beach. In daylight I sent two rods out for Plaice, and set up some feathers on a third just in case they came back. I thought I could livebait with it later on when I caught the...

South Coast Southbourne last night with the lad

No bites. No fish. Nothing. Big hooks no good. Small hooks no good. Fishless at range and fishless close in. Uninterested in rag, sandeel, mackerel or frozen black. Lovely evening to be out, though.

South Coast Two days on the dogfish

Went to Cogden on Wednesday/Thursday in pursuit of the elusive Lesser Spotted Dogfish. On Wednesday I used coloured beads and attractors in the daytime, with a size two hook and fresh Black. Craftily swopped to a squid/sandeel combo and a 4/0 pennel up and over into the darkness. Fantastic...

North West Session Number 3 - New Rods!!

In Lockdown I was tempted by a spool of very expensive tapered line, to avoid the dread Leader Knot/weed thing which drives me a bit scatty. Annoying at the best of times, it becomes devastating when having to clear the leader knot results in the loss of a good fish. Anyway I haven't tried it...

All rigs sorted and new ones retied. Bait freezer cleaned and refilled with fresh. Hook and rig bits boxes all sorted. Reels oiled and line changed. Leaders checked. Only 8 days to go...
