So...as the title says I'm off to Skye for a week in big tent with the other half. We're staying on a campsite just outside Dunvegan. Have just read fiveyardcast's excellent report and am in no doubt that I'll be taking my lure rods with me.... BUT is it worth taking the beach stuff? Bait will...
Meh....sorry...spent literally all day down there...10 bloody hours almost.....and caught this with the last cast! So yeah...a blank! Face like a lobster too!
Been ages since I've been on here and even longer since I've been out! So have a spare day today I thought I'd give it a go down in Southwick....near Portslade.
Just got here and the tide is against me but on a day like this....doesn't matter..I can be here all day.
I'll keep you updated if any...
Haven't been around due to work being ridiculously busy...Christmas is a bar's busiest time and it's been non stop. During the time my rods have been in the garage a bloody mouse has decided to do me a favour and eat through both of my rod bags! Still they're the ones that Sonik supply with the...
So a mate of mine was out at Selsey last week and caught this beast. He tried to weigh it and reckoned it got to 78lb before the scales broke. If this is right it would have been a new shore caught record as the existing one stands at 77lbs 3oz. There were a couple of others fishing with him but...
Exactly what I have just done...stripped all the braid off and put mono back on...knots were driving me nuts....wind and the one attaching the leader....and even with glasses the braid was difficult to tie for me.
I was on Chesil Tuesday last week and plenty of mackerel around....baitfish leaping to their deaths onto the shingle and could actually see the mackies chasing them the water was so clear! And the mackerel were BIG too....
Bugger .. and a brand new old stock Penn Surfmaster 60 with spare spool for 35 quid....I collect tomorrow. Supposed to be a great reel....built to last.
Just picked up the following....all virtually new. All for 100 quid.
2 x Sonik SKS Black 13ft surf rods and a Savage Gear XLNT 7ft travel lure rod 20 to 70g.
Bargains there if you're patient.
Anyone want to buy a couple of 16ft Penn Powerstix Pro conti rods???
Yep...it looks and works great.
To be honest I'll use it as a multi purpose reel....feather chucking etc.... but I seem to remember it was pretty decent in terms of casting so will give it a go on one my 13ft surf rods and see how it goes.
