Apart from the near elimination of tip wrap when jigging

I have not found that to be the case if I am honest.

Tip wrapping is avoided by making sure you have the wind in your back, so it blows the line away from you, then high pitching is the order of the day.;)

If that cant be achieved then use a slightly different action that puts hardly any slack line on the rod fall after the pitch.
 
I hear what you're saying GPS but having the wind in a favourable position isn't always possible and the physics of the guide train definitely helps
