    Skin reactions to bait

My hands sweat in gloves...which in turn also agitates the skin. Like I say it's a real pain, can't win for trying half the time.

    Skin reactions to bait

Yeh lifestyle changes have been my main tactic so far, reducing exposure to known irritating things etc, unfortunately sea fishing was in there too. Do you find wetting hands and touching baits better than wearing gloves and dealing with the inevitible (though delayed) sweat induced reaction...

    Skin reactions to bait

Cheers all for the suggestions of how to make this better. Not sure on the butter...haha. Barrier cream sounds like a good approach, as do the pre-baited traces. My mate did suggest the traces and I do intend on giving it a go. Just need to find the prep time. Could be worth it in the long...

    Skin reactions to bait

Hi all, been a bit absent from sea fishing recently. Back in summer 2019 I started getting skin reactions to bait, specifically Ragworm and squid, I never wore gloves, to be fair I also never cleaned them, just wiped them on a towel. To my detriment it seems! But while out sole fishing with my...

    Chest waders

Exactly where my first pair went. First pair was the "team vass 700", not bad, split at the boot somewhere after 2 years of regular use. New set are the 740e, the fit is massive in comparison, though the thicker pvc prob makes the waders less supple. Could be the reason they feel so big.

    Local Fishing in the BC

My mate had a nice eater sole at 1lb 7oz, a just under 2lb bass, 8lb+ thorny and a strap the other week from Clevedon when we went out, all I had was a couple of smaller rays! The channel hasn't been kind to me this year, my mate has done well though. Then again I've not fished much, whereas my...

    Morning All.

I should give it more attention tbh, but you're right, reef and rag bed sells itself! Second time I went I was waiting for the gulley to empty enough to cross to the reef, it was dark around 4am and I wasnt entirely sure when it was safe, luckily a black rock veteran was looking to cross...

    Morning All.

I've only fished off black rock twice, which is odd as I live in Clevedon! I don't like competition while getting onto the reef I guess, quite a busy mark! Good hounds come off there though, and further along at St Margarents Bay (aka Layde Bay, as it's often referred to).

Didn't consider prawn as a smoothie bait! Good effort and some nice fish there

    Another rod....

I see your point @Tournamag , rod is rated to 275g, so a 200g lead and a rag bait might be ok? I wouldn't be using 7oz regularly, more of a stress test for the rod while I am giving it the "seal of approval" :) My usual lead is 6oz around here, only need 7oz at a particular mark or two when the...

    Another rod....

I forgot to update this, I took the rod out last week to a fairly snaggy mark on the south coast after smoothies. Casting 5oz and whole squid as well as rag baits. The session drew a blank but the rod was great, I snagged up and did give it a good pull to try to free it (it is generally...

    Show us yer pike

Caught a pike on a local reservoir at the weekend. It took a jerk bait and went 13lb 3oz, first double, only caught a fish just under 5lb prior to this. Hopefully I'll catch many more like some of your photos on this thread. Cheers
