A step by step guide on how to build a shore conger pulley rig.
1. Start with 50-inch length of 150lb Rig Body Line.
2. At one end tie on a Mustad 3/0 oval split ring.
3. Above the split ring slide on a homemade bait clip made from stiff tubing and 18-guage stainless steel wire. Make the clip about 1.5-inches long overall.
4. Slide on a 5mm bead, a Fox Pulley Rig bead and another 5mm bead.
5. Measure the free end of line leaving it slightly shorter than the main rig body line and tie a double figure of eight knot in it to form the hook length.
6. Tie on a single size 6/0 O’Shaughnessy pattern hook for average conger, but use an 8/0 when using really big baits for specimen fish.
7. Above the hook tie on a Powergum sliding stop knot to act as a bait stop when casting.
