Best website for long range tidal predictions?

Anyone know any decent ones? I use a couple that are great for one week or one month ahead but I'm looking for one that will do at least six months ahead, as I am trying to plan some fishing trips for the Autumn.

    Trabucco Mastercast X-Distance line.

Has anyone tried this line? Veals sent me an email about it and I am tempted to give it a go. The quoted thickness is seriously less than some (most) of the mono I currently use and if the other claims made are true then it could be decent line...

    Sharpening a knife

Okay, so what am I doing wrong? I’m trying to sharpen my fishing knives using a stone but no matter how much I try, I just can’t seem to get a sharp edge to them. I’ve used oil on the stone, I’ve sharpened both sides, I’ve used the stone on the knife, the knife on the stone, I’ve pushed away...

    Flies that catch anglers.

I have been cleaning my fly boxes out, ready for a trip on Thursday and I found these epoxy fry patterns. I have had them for a couple of years but have never got round to using them. I think, out of the three or four hundred flies I must have, I normally only ever use about twenty patterns at most.

Rod grip for multipliers with no level wind?

I have recently had a couple of new multiplier rods that have moveable reel seats, but I am finding the rod slightly difficult to hold with my left hand when retrieving a cast. I used to hook my little finger around the front coaster as I held the rod to stop it twisting as I wound in, and then...

    South West Kingston Seymour 24/04/21

The stars and the tides aligned nicely on Saturday so I decided to break off the Covid blues and travel down to meet my son for the first beach trip this year. He lives in Bristol so the channel is convenient for him, if not me. He has fished at various local venues but Kingston Seymour was the...

Unjustified expense or worth every penny?

I need to confess before going any further that I am a tackle tart! Anything shiny or that looks like a well engineered bit of kit has me drooling at the mouth and reaching for my wallet but if I am honest, I have more fishing gear than a football team could use at any one time, but that hasn't...

    South West Kingston Seymour advice

I am planning a trip (or two) to this venue in the next month. Can anyone offer any advice on baits, possible species to target, rigs, spots to fish etc. Please bear in mind that my mobility isn't great, so I can't go wading into mud to fish low water or anything like that. Thanks in advance...

    Apart from rods and reels...?

As per the title, apart from rods and reels, what's the one item of tackle that you can't live without. (and before some smart a*** says hooks or line, be specific, which hook, which line etc.) My one thing would be Breakaway impact shields. I love them. I put them on most rigs I use.

    How small do you go?

With hooks? I tend to go down to 1/0 when I'm flattie fishing but after some threads I have read on here I'm beginning to think I should be going smaller still. How small do you go? (Sea fishing only)

Features on a beach - important or not?

I do a lot of river fishing and I spend a fair bit of time looking for features to fish to, over or near, such as overhanging trees, bends, depth changes etc, but when I get to the beach I just pick a spot that looks comfy and stick my tripod up ready to fish. I never really consider the beach...

Pennel rigs - same size or different hooks

When making up Pennell rigs I don't know why but I have always used a slightly smaller hook on the top of the rig, ie 3/0 above and 4/0 below, or 4/0 above and 5/0 below. I also often tend to use a slightly thicker gauge hook on the bottom hook, for example a Kamasan 4446b on top but a 4447b...
